Edinson Cavani happy at PSG despite Laurent Blanc confrontation

Edinson Cavani clashed with Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc during Sunday's win at Marseille but has insisted "everything is perfect" in the French capital.

Cavani, 28, exchanged words with Blanc as he was brought off the Stade Velodrome pitch just before the hour mark of PSG's 3-2 win that maintained their hold on top spot in the Ligue 1 table.

Blanc told media afterwards that he had taken Cavani off "because he had a pain behind a thigh," and added: "When I am happy with a player, I tell the player, not you."

The incident has increased speculation the Uruguay international, who signed a five-year contract at the Parc des Princes in 2013, is to leave the French champions.

However, in an interview with Canal+ broadcast before Sunday's game on the Mediterranean coast, Cavani insisted Blanc's use of him in a wide position in a 4-3-3 formation was his only issue.

"I came to play as a centre-forward with Zlatan [Ibrahimovic], and after, things changed for a variety of reasons," the ex-Napoli and Palermo striker explained.

"Everything else is perfect in Paris. The club has behaved very well towards me. I have had some difficult moments personally, and they protected me, supported me. The fans have also always supported me. I think I'm in one of the best places in the world."

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Cavani in the summer.

The forward, who has scored eight goals in 28 league appearances and six strikes in eight Champions League outings, shrugged off conjecture he is considering his future.

"I'm staying focussed on my preparation to give my best for my team, to the club that pays me and has shown faith in me. You never know in football. I'm not thinking about it," Cavani said, adding he was concentrating on "just finishing the year with PSG, and respecting my contract."
