Laurent Blanc says PSG boosted by moving to top of Ligue 1 table

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc says his team will take a boost from knowing they are leading the Ligue 1 table -- even if it's only for a day.

Blanc's men controlled the action in a 3-1 win against Toulouse on Saturday to move one point ahead of Lyon and three ahead of Marseille, who both play on Sunday.

"Obviously it's only provisional, but perhaps it has sunk in that we don't have any more points to lose," Blanc said. "It's always positive to be first and with 52 points from 26 games we're not far away from a title-winning rhythm."

Despite playing short-handed after a host of injuries, PSG used a brace from Adrien Rabiot and an additional goal from Thiago Silva to extend their Ligue 1 unbeaten streak to six games.

"What pleased me is that we managed to create chances and we scored goals," Blanc said.

"We've had the chance to go top three or four times before and we couldn't do it. Maybe this is a sign."

Blanc said he took off Rabiot near the end of Saturday's match so he could get an ovation from the fans at Parc des Princes.

"I'm happy for Adrien. When he came off a few weeks ago he was jeered and that affected him," Blanc said.

"Don't forget that he's a young player, hardly even 20, the future of PSG. He has a lot of room for improvement and I'm happy he played well."
