Laurent Blanc: Paris Saint-Germain need Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edinson Cavani

Laurent Blanc has admitted he had to bring Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi back into his Paris Saint-Germain squad after their festive season indiscipline if the French champions want success this season.

The duo were fined and frozen out of PSG's first three competitive outings of 2015 after returning late from their Christmas break.

However, they were both included in the squad for Sunday's league encounter with Evian, and came off the bench during the 4-2 win with Cavani scoring his side's fourth a minute from time.

"They're talented players," Blanc told media of the Uruguayan, 27, and the Argentine, 29. "To achieve our objectives, we are going to need them."

PSG's victory leaves them third in Ligue 1, four points behind leaders Lyon. The fact Evian went in front at the Parc des Princes and then came back to 2-2 before the hosts pulled clear has not completely eased the pressure on Blanc, 49.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS on Sunday evening, the former Bordeaux and France coach felt he has not lost the dressing-room.

"I think the players are behind me," he said. "It's the same in every club: when you get results, things are fine, the coach's messages get through, the players get on well.

"When the results aren't so good, the messages aren't received so well, people say the coach can't motivate his players... But I don't feel there is a gap between me and the players."
