Palmeiras forward Gabriel Jesus says he is '100 percent fit'

Palmeiras forward Gabriel Jesus said he is 100 percent fit after scoring in Wednesday's 1-1 draw against second-placed Flamengo.

The Brazilian teenager is playing with his home club until the conclusion of the Brazil league's national championship in December after signing with Manchester City last month for a reported £27 million on a five-year deal.

He was taken out last week in the team's 0-0 draw against Gremio due to a groin injury, raising doubts about match overload. On Wednesday, he scored a late equaliser from to keep Palmeiras top.

"If I wasn't feeling at 100 percent fit, I wouldn't be on the field," he said. "No one is trying to force anything. I have been working with the physical therapists and they have helped quite a bit. We have a mutual interest in me being at 100 percent to play."

Last week, Jesus played three matches in six days, seeing action in Brazil's World Cup qualifying win over Colombia and then rejoining Palmeiras the following day for the 2-1 victory over Sao Paulo before Sunday's draw against Gremio.

He will sit out Saturday's match against Corinthians, however, not due to the injury but because he is suspended after being handed a third yellow card on Wednesday.

Palmeiras doctor Rubens Sampaio said Jesus' condition was not cause for concern.

"He got much better during the last three days and yesterday we did a test to evaluate his situation," he said. "He did well in the game, if he wasn't suspended, would play normally on Saturday. Unfortunately he received his third yellow card.

"But he will do his recovery and be part of the activities during the rest of the week."
