Giovanni Bosi becomes Palermo's sixth new boss of the season

Palermo have appointed Giovanni Bosi as their sixth coach this season after Guillermo Barros Schelotto was refused special dispensation to lead the Sicilian club without a recognised licence.

Schelotto became the third Rosaneri boss this term following the dismissals of Giuseppe Iachini and Davide Ballardini, but was then officially demoted to an assistant role since he did not have a licence.

Fabio Viviani and then Giovanni Tedesco were subsequently named coach while Palermo waited for permission to be granted for Schelotto to take official charge.

However, UEFA informed the Serie A club that the Argentine does not have the requisites to take on the job and so Bosi has been promoted from his role of youth-team coach instead.

"In this difficult emergency caused by UEFA not recognising Guillermo Barros Schelotto's licence, I am announcing that I have placed the coach of the youth team Giovanni Bosi in charge of the first team, with the assistance of Giovanni Tedesco," Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini said in a statement on the club's official website.

Schelotto has already bid Palermo farewell and returned to Argentina, where he hopes to find a new job which could lead to him obtaining a licence in future.

"I don't have the licence so I can't coach," Schelotto told Sky Sport Italia. "They've not approved it as I'm still lacking a year-and-a-half of experience. Zamparini has told me to go and get that."

Palermo are currently 15th in Serie A, seven points above the relegation zone. Bosi's first game in charge will be against Torino on Sunday.
