Olympiakos won't sit back against Arsenal - Marco Silva

ATHENS -- Olympiakos coach Marco Silva insists his side will not be sitting back against Arsenal on Wednesday night -- even though the Greek champions can afford to lose and still progress in the Champions League.

Having won 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium in September, Olympiakos are in a strong position to qualify with consecutive victories over Dinamo Zagreb putting them second behind Bayern Munich in Group F.

Arsenal must win by two goals, or by 3-2 or better, to overturn Silva's side and reach the knockout stages for a 16th straight season.

Olympiakos, who have won all 12 of their league games so far this season and have only been beaten by Bayern Munich across all competitions, are now favourites to advance and Silva is not even thinking about squeaking through with a defeat.

"It is true that we have the opportunity to knock out Arsenal," he said at his prematch news conference. "We will fight until the end to achieve this. Never in any game, in any event, did we prepare to lose and so we will not be doing that now."

Former Sporting boss Silva admits his side were not fancied to get out of the group once they were drawn alongside both Bayern Munich and Arsenal but is proud to still be in contention at this stage.

"When this group was drawn with Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Dynamo, I think we all knew who everyone thought the two teams who would take the first two positions would be," he added.

"It's really nice to be able to fight for qualification tomorrow. As we all know, the results come on the pitch. We agree that a team like Arsenal, which rarely is in this position having usually secured qualification before the last day of the group, are under an additional pressure.

"We do not feel pressure, we feel obliged to fight and present the best possible result in front of our fans."

Former West Brom striker Brown Ideye will be looking to deal a hammer-blow to Arsenal's hopes, having scored a last-gasp winner earlier in the group to secure victory in Zagreb.

The Nigeria international believes Olympiakos were underestimated when the draw was made and, having not had a successful stint in the Premier League, insists Wednesday night is about much more than him proving himself to English fans.

"I believe in the group, Olympiakos was devalued a bit initially, but we're working hard," he said. "I do not think I have something to prove tomorrow. I am at Olympiakos and I want to focus on tomorrow's game."
