Martin Odegaard tipped for greatness by Morten Gamst Pedersen

Morten Gamst Pedersen says reported Manchester United target Martin Odegaard has more potential than any young player he has ever seen.

The teenage sensation, who became the youngest player to represent Norway last week at the age of 15 years and 253 days, reportedly attracted interest from a number of top clubs during the transfer window.

Norway face England in a friendly on Wednesday but Odegaard will not feature at Wembley as he has been selected for the under-21 side.

"For his age he is unbelievable -- his knowledge of the game is unbelievable and his technical skills are fantastic,'' Pedersen, who spent nine seasons in England with Blackburn, said. "You have to realise he is only 15 years old and he needs time to build up his physique but the potential is unbelievable. I have never seen a player with so much potential.

"He is with the under-21s and hopefully he will get a feel for international football there but it is not the last we will see of him, that's for sure."

Odegaard, who currently plays in his homeland for Stromsgodset, turns 16 in December but Pedersen believes he could be ready for a move to the Premier League already.

"Even if he goes abroad to a big club he could go back on loan -- it's a good level so it's hard to say what the right decision is,'' Pedersen said. "I have spoken to him. We had a game last week and I sat down and spoke to him and he asked lots of questions.

"I told him I would give him advice but that the most important thing is he enjoys his football and gets better. The best thing of all is he is a really nice lad -- he's down to earth and that will help him a lot wherever he ends up."
