MLS approved for 14% of U.S. Soccer presidential vote - sources

Major League Soccer's delegates will account for 14 percent of the overall vote in the upcoming election for the president of the U.S. Soccer Federation, sources have told ESPN FC.

In one of two long-awaited decisions made at a meeting on Sunday, the USSF Board of Directors passed a proposal regarding the allocation of delegates within the Professional Council, sources said, a move which will have a direct impact on the Feb. 10 election for U.S. Soccer president.

The North American Soccer League will skip its spring season following the U.S. Soccer Federation's decision to revoke its provisional second-tier status.

The NASL said on Monday it plans to shift to the international calendar of August-May seasons, pending the outcome of its appeal in its lawsuit against the USSF. After the second-tier status was denied, the NASL filed an antitrust suit against the USSF in federal court in Brooklyn.

North Carolina FC completes move from NASL to USL

North Carolina FC will play in the USL starting in 2018.

North Carolina FC completed its long-awaited move to the United Soccer League on Thursday.

The club, formerly known as the Carolina Railhawks, has played in the North American Soccer League since it re-formed in 2011 but will now switch over to USL, which is more closely affiliated with Major League Soccer and gained provisional Division 2 status from the U.S. Soccer Federation this year.
