Philip Asuquo's 90th-minute penalty condemned MFM FC to a 1-0 away defeat by Yobe Desert Stars in Damaturu as the Olukoya Boys fell to their ninth defeat on the road this campaign.

The visitors looked threatening in the early minutes, and should have gone ahead when a good team move carved out an opening for Elijah Akanni, who elected to shoot rather than square the ball to the better positioned Udeh Zinte.

Yobe steadily began to dominate, but on more than one occasion were denied by the excellent goalkeeper Isaac Jerry, keeping out efforts from Chinedu Ohanachom and Asuquo.

A good day's work was undone when Ohanachom was fouled in the area, and up stepped the experienced Asuquo to convert, securing a first win in four games for 12th-place Yobe Stars, who end the day on 27 points.

Enyimba played out a disappointing 1-1 home draw against FC Ifeanyi Ubah in a rescheduled matchday 17 fixture, the second game in which the People's Elephant's have dropped points at home.

Pascal Seka capitalised on a defensive slip to apply a finish past Ikechukwu Ezenwa, three minutes before the half-time break in the Oriental Derby.

Gangling striker Ibrahim Mustapha earned Enyimba a point, with his 61st-minute goal enough to preserve the eighth-placed team's unbeaten home record.

Akwa United failed to secure a league win for a third straight game, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Plateau United in Uyo.

Tosin Omoyele was a constant threat for the champions in the early exchanges, but he failed to beat goalkeeper Emmanuel Iwu.

The home side, who had looked second best in the opening half, took the lead against the run of play, Cyril Olisema tucking in Ifeanyi Ede's squared pass.

Michael Ibeh should have doubled the Promise Keepers' advantage, but his wild strike from an intelligent Ede cutback sailed over the bar.

The champions forced their way back into the tie, Hamzat Owolabi calmly finding the roof of the net, securing a result which keeps Plateau fourth on the log.
