One place still open in Nigeria starting XI

With less than 24 hours to the first of their two 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Cameroon, only one place remains somewhat doubtful in Nigeria's starting line-up.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr told reporters on Tuesday that he would have a clear idea of his starting team after a closed training session on Wednesday.

And on yesterday morning he outed the first player in his starting XI, naming FC Ifeanyi Ubah goalkeeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa as his preferred choice for the game. The selection appeared to follow an injury to Daniel Akpeyi, with Plateau United goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye called in as back-up.

All other positions have been locked down, except for the right wide forward position. Moses Simon is the usual pick on that front, but Rohr appears to be concerned about his willingness to track back and sources tell KweséESPN that the coach is mulling the choice of Oghenkaro Etebo or Ahmed Musa for the role.

At the moment, Etebo has his nose in front, but that could change in the next 24 hours.

PROBABLE LINE-UP: Ezenwa, Shehu, Troost-Ekong, Balogun, Echiejile, Onazi, Ndidi, Mikel, Simon, Ighalo, Moses
