Rivers United sign Ayo Saka, Malian import and three others

CAF Confederation Cup campaigners, Rivers United have strengthened their squad with the addition of five new players, including a Malian import.

Coach Stanley Eguma who tutored team struggled in the first round of the Nigeria Professional Football League season, crashed out in the final round of the CAF Champions League.

In a bid to strengthen the team ahead of the task ahead, the club reinforced the squad with five new additions -- amongst who are former u23 Nigerian international, Ayo Saka, John 'Mboma' Odimegwu, Ifeanyi Okoye, Semiu Liadi and Kanoute, a Malian striker.

Saka, a veteran of several league seasons in Nigeria, links up from Sunshine Stars of Akure, while Odimegwu joins from league leaders, Plateau United.

Okoye, a defensive midfielder joins from Niger Tornadoes and becomes the third player after the duo of Gabriel Wassa and Lukman Mohammed to join the Pride of Rivers from Minna this season.

Liadi, as earlier reported moves to the team from Akwa United, a fresh challenge in the professional career of the tough tackling central defender.
