Katsina United too good for Rivers United

Chinedu Udechukwu netted a brace for Katsina United to hand them a 2-0 win against Rivers United in a rescheduled match-day 13 fixture played behind closed doors.

The home team were rampant from kick-off, with Chinedu Udechukwu striking the post in the second minute. But the took the lead six minutes later, with Udechukwu burying Isah Abdulrahman's cross.

There was only one team in this encounter for the opening half, with the trio of Udechukwu, Obinna Eleje and Destiny Ashadi all going close to adding a second.

Godbless Asamoah missed a great chance for Rivers after the break, and they were made to pay for that as Udechukwu heading home his second shortly afterwards.

Coach Stanley Eguma brought on Bernard Ovoke with less than a quarter of the game to play, and the tricky winger made his impact felt a minute when he struck the upright.

The result sees Rivers slip down to 15th place, with Katsina shooting up to 10th.
