Nice play down reports linking coach Lucien Favre with Borussia Dortmund

Nice sporting director Julien Fournier has played down reports linking coach Lucien Favre with Borussia Dortmund.

Favre has been identified by some reports as favourite to replace Thomas Tuchel if he leaves the Westfalenstadion at the end of the season.

Although Dortmund have qualified for the DFB Pokal final and are in pole position to win automatic qualification for next season's Champions League, Tuchel's position is in doubt amid tension with the club's hierarchy.

Bild reported on Monday that former Borussia Monchengladbach and Hertha Berlin coach Favre has already agreed on a one-year contract in principle.

But Fournier told Sport1: "Dortmund have had a very good idea, because Lucien is a top coach.

"But they should have had this idea prior to the season when he was still on the market. He's at Nice now."

Favre is under contract at Nice until 2019 and has guided them to third place in Ligue 1.

Tuchel is under contract until 2018, but has dropped hints that he will not be in the BVB dugout next season.
