Coach Anthony Hudson has praised the mental strength the All Whites are showing as they prepare for the second of three training games in Queensland ahead of the Oceania Nations Cup.
The New Zealanders won the first warm-up fixture 2-0 against Western Pride FC, with goals from Monty Patterson and Bill Tuiloma.
Their other warm-up fixtures are also against Queensland National Premier League sides, Redlands United on Sunday and Brisbane City on Tuesday, before they open their Nations Cup campaign against Fiji in Port Moresby on May 28.
Since arriving in Brisbane last weekend, the All Whites have been training twice a day in the city's heat and humidity and Hudson was encouraged with what they showed against Western Pride despite the workload.
"I've said all along the mentality of how we approach this Nations Cup is most important," he said.
"We have got to make sure that we're on it every single day leading up to the Fiji game, that the mentality is strong, we're prepared, we're organised and we play as a team."
Hudson thought his side looked compact against Western Pride but said it was just the first step and more improvement was needed.
The All Whites came through the match without injuries and have been bolstered by the arrival of skipper Chris Wood in Brisbane.
Shane Smeltz, Kosta Barbarouses, Marco Rojas and Michael Boxall will join the squad in PNG.
