New York Red Bulls defender Gideon Baah out with broken tibia

New York Red Bulls defender Gideon Baah suffered a broken tibia this past weekend and will miss four to five months of action, according to reports.

The Ghana international suffered a non-contact injury at the 22nd minute of the match against the Portland Timbers.

"To have this happen to him is painful for everyone," head coach Jesse Marsch told Red Bulls communications officer Eric Giacometti.

Baah was the team's only free agent signing of the offseason.

Jake Gleeson had four saves, including a deflection in stoppage time, to help the Portland Timbers hold on for a 0-0 draw with the New York Red Bulls on Sunday night and extend their unbeaten streak to seven games.

Baah has been plagued by injuries this season, his first in MLS. He had featured in just eight matches including Sunday's, which was his sixth start of the year.
