U.S. youth international goalkeeper Cody Cropper signed with the New England Revolution on Thursday. Cropper, 23, has spent his entire club career in England after joining Ipswich Town in 2010. He moved to Southampton two years later, though he never played for the Premier League side, before moving to MK Dons last year. He took over the starting role for the Dons late in the season after an injury to David Martin, but the club released him earlier this summer after they were relegated to third-tier League One. Cropper played for the U.S. under-20 squad and featured in the under-23 team's Olympic qualifying playoff defeat to Colombia in March. Jurgen Klinsmann called him into senior team camp in March 2015. "Cody is a player whose development we've been tracking the past few years," Revolution general manager Michael Burns said. "He's a promising young goalkeeper and we're excited to bring him to New England." Cropper's stay in New England could be short-term after he told the FiftyFive.One blog in March that he would only like to play in MLS for Atlanta or Minnesota, which are both expected to join the league next season. Cropper was born in Atlanta and spent his teenage years in Minnesota. Bobby Shuttleworth currently holds the starting job for New England, backed up by Brad Knighton, but the Revs have allowed the most goals in MLS with 44 and have the worst goal differential at minus-15.
