Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has come out to deny that he is retiring from football and revealed that Valencia have made an approach for his services.
Van Gaal, who was sacked by United in May 2016 after winning the FA Cup has been on a sabbatical since leaving Old Trafford is understood to have rejected an offer to manage in China.
He was quoted earlier this week after receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Dutch government that he will be retiring from coaching due to family reasons.
"I think I'll retire. I actually wanted to quit after World Cup," Van Gaal said.
"After Manchester United, I thought I would stop, but then I later changed it to a smart sabbatical -- but now I do not think I will return to coaching.
"I could go [to China], but I am still here. So much has happened in my family, you become a human being again with your nose pressed to the facts."
The Dutch tactician then came out on Tuesday on Spanish radio to change his tune and even went as far as to reveal an offer from Peter Lim's Valencia.
"No, no no. I have not retired," Van Gaal told Cadena Ser. "I am just taking a sabbatical year and after that I will decide. It depends on the offers I receive. I will decide next July.
"I could return [to Spain]. Valencia offered me the manager's job around a month ago, or five weeks. I said no."
The Spanish club were on the lookout for a new manager after Italian coach Cesare Prandelli resigned in December, but the La Liga outfit have since appointed Voro Gonzalez to guide them through the rest of the season.
