Robin van Persie honoured for winning 100 caps for Netherlands

Robin van Persie has been honoured by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and UEFA after winning his 100th international cap for Netherlands last year.

Van Persie, 33, racked up his century of caps last October after coming off the bench during Netherlands' 2-1 Euro 2016 qualifying win in Kazakhstan.

And the Fenerbahce striker's achievement has now been recognised after he received a golden plate from the KNVB as well as a commemorative medal and cap from European football's governing body.

"Happy to have received the UEFA #100th commemoration cap, the KNVB golden plate and the UEFA 100 Club medal at home," Van Persie wrote on Twitter.

"Proud I had the opportunity to be able to receive this. It has been a milestone in my career.

"Thank you KNVB, UEFA, FIFA for organising great matches and amazing tournaments and to all of those who have been there and supported me along the way."

Van Persie has won a total of 101 caps for Netherlands to date, with his most recent appearance for the national team coming in the 3-2 Euro 2016 qualifying defeat to Czech Republic last October.
