Netherlands' Arjen Robben set to miss Germany friendly

Arjen Robben is set to miss Netherlands' game with Germany on Tuesday as the Bayern Munich star takes a cautious approach to his fitness.

Robben, 31, has suffered with a series of injury problems over recent months and has only recently returned from the muscular injury he picked up while on international duty with Netherlands in early September.

He will return to international duty for Friday's international friendly with Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium, but Netherlands boss Danny Blind said he will then head back to Bayern.

"I had in-depth talks with Arjen last week, and also made contact with his club," Blind said in kicker. "By common agreement we've decided that he'll play once, and the intention is that it'll be in the Wales match."

Germany are also set to be without a host of players for the Netherlands match.

Kicker has reported that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and defender Jerome Boateng are due to return to Bayern after they represents the world champions in a friendly with France in Paris on Friday.

The report said Bayern forward Thomas Muller and Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels may also miss the Netherlands match.

Schalke attacker Leroy Sane, 19, is set to join Germany under-21 side for their upcoming qualifier in Poland after the meeting with France, while Joachim Low has allowed Real Madrid's Toni Kroos and Arsenal's Mesut Ozil to miss the two games.
