Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed on Monday that defender Kalidou Koulibaly has signed a contract through 2021.
The 25-year-old Senegal defender had been near the top of Antonio Conte's list of desired defensive reinforcements all summer, but De Laurentiis' refusal to budge on his £60 million asking price brought talks with Chelsea to a halt.
The Napoli president did not say whether the new contract included a €70m release clause, previously reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I am pleased to announce that Kalidou Koulibaly has renewed his contract with Napoli until the end of 2021," De Laurentiis said via Twitter.

Napoli paid Belgian side Genk €6.5m for Koulibaly in the summer of 2014.
In the 2015-16 season, Koulibaly proved to be one of the best defenders in Europe, making 42 appearances for Napoli in all competitions.
Napoli moved top of Serie A on Saturday following a 3-1 home win against Bologna.
