Gonzalo Higuain has no plans to leave Napoli, agent says

Gonzalo Higuain has no intention of leaving Napoli any time soon, according to the player's agent.

The Argentina international is in his third season with Napoli, whom he joined in 2013 from Real Madrid, and is in great form.

Napoli are fourth in Serie A, two points adrift of Fiorentina and Inter MIlan, who are level on 27 points at the top of the standings.

Higuain scored his ninth Serie A goal of the season to hand Napoli their sixth win in seven league games in Sunday's 1-0 triumph over Udinese and has attracted the attention of top European clubs.

"Gonzalo scored his 200th goal as a professional on Sunday, reaching an important figure," the player's brother and agent Nicolas Higuain told Italian radio station Radio Crc.

"Three years ago Gonzalo chose Napoli and you can see how much this club means to him by what he is doing on the pitch.

"His dream, since the first day he set foot in Naples, is to win the scudetto with Napoli.

"[Fellow Argentinian] Diego [Maradona] won the scudetto with Napoli in his third year at the club and we hope this will be a good sign."

The 27-year-old is under contract with Napoli until June 2018 and could leave next summer by exercising FIFA's article 17 that allows footballers to break their contract once a protected period has expired.

For those younger than 28 when they signed their contract, they must be three years into their deal.

However, Nicolas Higuain said: "A great player like Higuain would never use article 17. He would give a terrible image and it's not the style of our family.

"Right now we have no appointments set with Napoli."

Higuain leads the Serie A scoring charts with nine goals alongside Sampdoria's Citadin Eder.

He has also set up two more while also scoring twice to help the Naples outfit reach the last 32 of the Europa League.

Higuain is on international duty with Argentina.

With Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Manchester City's Sergio Aguero sidelined through injury, Higuain is expected to start for the Albiceleste in a World Cup qualifier against Brazil in Buenos Aires on Nov. 12.
