Jose Callejon hopes Napoli win over Club Brugge can be springboard

Napoli forward Jose Callejon hopes the Campania club have turned the corner with their 5-0 win over Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday.

Coach Maurizio Sarri has come under pressure after the Azzurri started their season with a defeat and two draws.

Winning so convincingly on their first outing in Europe this season was a "great injection of belief," according to Sarri.

Callejon echoed that view by saying it could prove to be the turning point his team needed.

"It was a fantastic game from everybody in the Napoli team," said the Spaniard to Sky Sport Italia. "It was really important for us to get our season up and running and finally to gift our fans with a convincing victory.

"What's going to be even more important now is that we add some continuity to tonight's result and beat Lazio on Sunday."

Sarri added that even a scrappy win on Sunday would suit him as the two sides who contested a berth in the Champions League on the final day of last season prepare for a rematch.

"A former coach of mine used to always say it's better to win five games 1-0 than one game 5-0," he said. "But this is a great injection of belief, particularly for our defenders for keeping a clean sheet."

It was Napoli's first clean sheet of the season after conceding six in their first three league fixtures.
