Mancosu to miss six to eight weeks for Montreal Impact with thigh tear

The Montreal Impact have confirmed that striker Matteo Mancosu will miss six to eight weeks after suffering a thigh injury against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday.

Mancosu, 32, was substituted off for Anthony Jackson-Hamel just five minutes into Montreal's 2-1 loss and his absence will complicate Mauro Biello's selection at forward in the upcoming weeks.

The former Bologna player signed a permanent deal with Montreal before the 2017 season after spending 2016 on loan with the Impact. Mancosu has scored two goals in eight appearances so far this season.

The team also announced that 2016 draft pick Michael Salazar will join the North American Soccer League's Ottawa Fury on loan for the rest of the season. Salazar won't be allowed to play in the Fury's Canadian Championship games as part of the loan agreement.
