Montpellier sign Anthony Vanden Borre on loan from Anderlecht

Montpellier have signed defender Anthony Vanden Borre on loan for the season from Anderlecht.

The 28-year-old former Fiorentina, Genoa and Portsmouth player has joined the Ligue 1 outfit with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

The DR Congo-born player has 29 caps for Belgium and plays at right-back or on the right wing.

A statement on the Montpellier website read: "[Anthony Vanden Borre] brings experience to a young Montpellier team. The arrival of a player of such a profile brings satisfaction for the staff and directors of Montpellier.''

Vanden Borre made his debut for Anderlecht in 2003 before moving to Fiorentina four years later. He joined Genoa in 2008 before spending a season on loan with Portsmouth in 2009.

He made the move back to Belgium with Genk in 2010 before returning to Anderlecht in 2012.
