Rolland Courbis resigns as Montpellier manager

Montpellier have accepted Rolland Courbis' resignation and will reveal his successor's name on Sunday.

The 62-year-old returned to MHSC for a second spell as head coach in 2013 and, after steering them away from relegation from Ligue 1, secured a seventh-placed finish at the end of the 2014-15 season.

But recent results have been poor. Montpellier did not win a league game until late September and after a brief resurgence slipped back into a rut and occupy 15th place heading into the winter break.

Courbis has now opted to step aside, with a statement published on the club's official website confirming presidents Louis and Laurent Nicollin had "taken note and would announce who will succeed him as head coach on December 27."
