Montpellier sign Algerian defender Ramy Bensebaini

Montpellier have completed the signing of Algerian central defender Ramy Bensebaini from Paradou AC.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan from the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 2 outfit at Lierse in the Belgian Pro League where he made 22 appearances and scored one goal before he chose to join Stade de la Mosson.

The club issued a statement on www.mhscfoot.com, which read: "After William Remy, MHSC has sealed its second recruit of the summer transfer window in Ramy Bensebaini.

"Tracked by many European clubs, Ramy Bensebaini chose MHSC to pursue his career and progression.

"The leaders at Montpellier are in any case very pleased to record the arrival of this very promising player for the 2015-2016 season."

Bensebaini becomes La Paillade's second signing of the summer transfer window after William Remy agreed a deal late last month after his contract at Dijon expired, and the 24-year-old defender is expected to commit for three seasons.

Bensebaini, meanwhile joins from a club that suffered relegation from the Pro League, coming third in a play-off with three Belgian Second Division sides after finishing the regular season bottom of the table and in turn relegating Cercle Brugge following their earlier playoff.
