Oswaldo Alanis prefers European stay to Liga MX after Getafe exit - agent

Mexico defender Oswaldo Alanis became a free agent on Monday when Getafe released him, but the 29-year-old is determined to stay in Europe, despite offers to return to Liga MX.

Alanis was only confirmed as a Getafe player in early July, having left Liga MX side Chivas at the end of his contract, but coach Jose Bordalas stated Monday that the Mexican "wasn't the profile of player I was looking for.

Alanis' agent Manfredi Caleca told ESPN AM on Tuesday that the contract rescission was "burdensome" because the player had a two-year deal and was looking forward to playing in La Liga.

"Oswaldo wants to accomplish his dream [of playing in Europe], so we preferred the freedom of being able to sign with any club in the world," explained Caleca.

Caleca confirmed that "many teams have approached" from Liga MX to inquire about the future of Alanis and that there are four clubs in Europe that are interested in signing the Mexico international, although his agent wouldn't reveal which teams they were.
