Peralta, Talavera, Torres Nilo headline Mexico Olympics squad

Oribe Peralta, Alfredo Talavera and Jorge Torres Nilo are Mexico's three overage players for El Tri's defense of Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro next month.

Mexico Olympic coach Raul "Potro" Gutierrez named his squad on Thursday, with four of the players coming from Pachuca and four from Chivas.

Winger Hirving Lozano is included in the squad, amid speculation that he could be on the move to Europe at some point this summer, with Manchester United linked.

Aside from Lozano, Carlos Salcedo, Rodolfo Pizarro and Houston Dynamo's Erick Torres have featured in full national team squads before.

Porto goalkeeper Raul Gudino was one of the surprise absentees, as well as Chivas' Orbelin Pineda and Pachuca's Raul Lopez.

Club America's Peralta helped Mexico to gold at London 2012 and strengthens Mexico up front, while Toluca's Talavera is set to be the starting goalkeeper and Torres Nilo will likely be the left-back.

Expectation is high in Mexico for a competition that El Tri won four years ago, defeating Brazil 2-1 in the final at Wembley.

El Tri opens its Olympic defense in Group C against Germany on Aug. 4, followed by matches against Fiji (Aug. 7) and Korea Republic (Aug. 10).
