Liga MX giant Club America is set to donate the gate proceeds from the Clasico Nacional against Chivas on Sept. 23 to help fund rescue efforts in the southern Mexican states of Chiapas and Oaxaca, which were devastated by an earthquake last Thursday.
At least 96 people died as a result of the magnitude 8.1 earthquake with over 2.3 million affected by the natural disaster.
"Club America joins the effort of all Mexicas and announces that the income from ticket sales for the America against Chivas game in Estadio Azteca will be donated to help reconstruction works in the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca," read a statement from the Mexico City club.

A host of other Liga MX clubs have also launched campaigns to help the relief effort, with Pachuca allowing free entry for Tuesday's Copa MX match against Cimarrones for those bringing essential non-perishable goods such as bottled water and cans of tuna or sardines.
Chivas launched a campaign to find a man who was photographed planting a Mexican flag in the rubble of a fallen building.
And Tigres winger and Mexico international Javier Aquino held an event on Sunday in Monterrey to collect donations for those in his home state of Oaxaca, with French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac in attendance.
