Santos Laguna's 19-year-old left'back Gerardo Arteaga is unlikely to move this January transfer window, despite reports in the Mexican media of interest from European clubs.

Arteaga burst onto the Liga MX scene in late 2016 and has become a regular starter at Santos. In recent weeks he has been linked with Turkish club Galatasaray, as well as Barcelona, Valencia and Porto.

Vancouver Whitecaps finish signing of Mexico's Efrain Juarez

Efrain Juarez can play at right-back or in a holding midfield role.

The Vancouver Whitecaps completed the signing of former Mexico international Efrain Juarez from Liga MX side Monterrey on Thursday.

The 2010 World Cup veteran signed a two-year contract with a club option for a third season. The Whitecaps will use targeted allocation money to complete the signing.

Juarez has previously played at right-back, but Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson said he expects the 29-year-old to slot in the center of their midfield.

Andy Polo is moving to MLS with the Portland Timbers.

The Portland Timbers have acquired Peru international winger Andy Polo on a one-year loan from Morelia with an option to buy, the MLS club announced on Wednesday.

The Timbers used targeted allocation money to complete the signing, so Polo won't count as a designated player.
