Liga MX playoffs: Pumas eliminates Tigres with dramatic stoppage-time winner

Gustavo Alustiza scored in second-half injury time to complete Pumas' dramatic fightback against Tigres on Sunday to win its Liga MX Apertura playoff quarterfinal 4-3 on aggregate.

Thursday's first leg ended 2-1 in favor of Tigres, but rapid-fire goals from Pumas' Carlos Gonzalez and Felipe Mora, along with an own goal by UNAM keeper Alfredo Saldivar had the hosts leading 2-1 and the tie level at 3-3 on aggregate.

With the game looking like it was headed for extra time, Carlos Gonzalez beat Saldivar and then picked out Alustiza at the top of the six-yard box to slot home and secure passage to the semifinals.

Pumas will play city rivals Club America in the semis after Miguel Herrera's team defeated Toluca 3-2 -- and 5-4 on aggregate -- in Sunday's late game.
