Tigres coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti will be in charge of the Mexico national team for next month's games against Uruguay and the United States. The Mexican federation confirmed that "an agreement with coach Ricardo Ferretti and Tigres has been reached so he can manage the Mexican national team on an interim basis for El Tri's scheduled games in the upcoming FIFA international dates." Ferretti comes into the job on a temporary basis for the second time, having previously taken over for four games in 2015, when the Brazil-born coach guided Mexico past the United States in a CONCACAF playoff to book El Tri's place at the 2017 Confederations Cup. The Tigres coach has won eight trophies -- including four Liga MX titles -- since taking over the club in 2010 and is one of the most successful coaches in the history of Mexico's first division. Ferretti has previously ruled himself out of the running to take over on a permanent basis, although ESPN's David Faitelson reported there may still be some room to convince the Tigres manager. Carlos Queiroz, Quique Sanchez Flores, Jorge Sampaoli, Matias Almeyda and Hector Cuper are some of the names to be linked with the permanent job. Mexico's squad for the Sept. 7 clash against Uruguay in Houston and the Sept. 11 match against the United States in Nashville, Tennessee, has not yet been announced, though widespread reports suggest that a number of El Tri's Europe-based contingent may not travel.
