A warrant for the arrest of former Chivas coach Ricardo La Volpe has not been granted, according to the Argentine's lawyer Enrique Venegas del Toro.
Reports had spread on Tuesday that authorities in the Mexican state of Jalisco had issued an arrest warrant for La Volpe relating to a 2014 case for alleged "inappropriate conduct" towards the club's foot hygienist after he had coached just four matches.
La Volpe was fired from the club, but maintained his innocence and has gone on to coach Chiapas as well as Chivas' rival Club America.
The case was reportedly resolved until the reports surfaced on Tuesday that La Volpe -- currently working in Egypt, according to his lawyer -- could be arrested.
But La Volpe's lawyer Venegas suggested the arrest warrant was false and that the case is unable to move on due to lack of evidence.
"If we were talking in footballing terminology, we could say that Ricardo La Volpe has won the match," Venegas told ESPN's Raza Deportiva.
Chivas club owner Jorge Vergara insisted on sacking La Volpe and said that the former Argentine manager presented himself to the young woman wearing only a towel, while La Volpe said the accusation was made up and said he was warning the foot doctor against the use of an arnica ointment.
La Volpe recently took up a position as technical advisor at Egyptian club Pyramids F.C. and hasn't coached in Mexico since leaving Club America in May 2017.
