Antonio Mohamed was released as coach of Liga MX club Monterrey on Monday, as the managerial merry-go-round and transfer market started to click into gear in Mexico.
Mohamed's side crashed out of the 2018 Clausura quarterfinals against Club Tijuana on Saturday and the club decided that it wanted a change direction. Mohamed had been in charge for just over three years and took the team to a runners-up finish in the 2017 Apertura.
"We couldn't bring you the championship, but my heart will remain with you," said Mohamed in a message to Monterrey fans. "I want to publicly thank you for these marvelous three years. I was very happy and I'll always be a Rayados fan."
Mohamed's dismissal wasn't the only managerial change in Liga MX in recent days, with Uruguayan Diego Alonso parting ways with Pachuca last Friday. He took over back in December 2014.
In Queretaro, Luis Fernando Tena was let go on Sunday, with former Lobos BUAP coach Rafa Puente named as the new head coach on Monday.
The changes may be set to continue in coming days, with Necaxa rumored to be considering Ignacio Ambriz's future.
Over at Cruz Azul, Ricardo Pelaez is reported to be close to being announced as the team's new sporting director. He has previously enjoyed success in a similar role at Club America.
The player market is also hotting up, with La Liga club Getafe confirming the signing of Chivas center-back Oswaldo Alanis and Monterrey purportedly closing in on Chivas forward Rodolfo Pizarro, with young center-back Cesar Montes possibly moving the other way.
Pumas striker Nico Castillo on confirmed Monday that he wants to move to Europe, while winger Jesus Gallardo could be leaving Pumas for Monterrey.
