Marseille crisis continues after fourth tier Andrezieux stun Rudi Garcia's men in French Cup

Marseille's nightmare run of form continued after the Ligue 1 side were dumped out of the French Cup by fourth tier Andrezieux on Sunday.

In one of the biggest cup shocks in France in recent years, Marseille were left stunned after Bryan-Clovis Ngwabije's early opener for the Championnat National 2 minnows.

Defender Ngwabije rose to nod home a corner on 16 minutes to give hosts Andrezieux the lead and as Marseille pushed for an undeserved way back into the game, it got even worse for Rudi Garcia's men. Florian Milla was on hand to double the home side's lead eight minutes from time to deepen the gloom on Marseille amid a nightmare run of form.

It has been a wretched start to 2019 for Garcia, whose side last won a match on Nov. 25 last year and have won just eight matches all season. Marseille also finished bottom of their group in the Europa League after a 4-0 defeat to eventual group winners Eintracht Frankfurt and a 3-1 home loss to Apollon Limassol.

Elsewhere in the French Cup on Sunday, Thierry Henry's Monaco won 1-0 away at Canet Roussillon courtesy of Moussa Sylla's goal.

On Saturday, Montpellier, riding high in the league in fourth place, conceded in stoppage time to lose 1-0 at third-tier side Entente SSG.

Angers also lost to an amateur side, beaten 1-0 by a Viry-Chatillon, while Nimes Olympique were hammered 3-0 by Lyon Duchere.

Among the Ligue 1 clubs who did manage to qualify for the next round were Olympique Lyonnais, who beat lower league Bourges 2-0, and Stade de Reims, who beat Lens by the same scoreline.

Bottom club Guingamp won 4-2 away at Stade Pontivyen, while league leaders Paris St-Germain head to fourth-tier Pontivy later on Sunday.
