Quique Sanchez Flores wants to lead Marseille if Marcelo Bielsa leaves

Quique Sanchez Flores says he would love to coach Marseille if Marcelo Bielsa leaves this summer, telling RMC: "I have a very good feeling with Marseille."

The future of Bielsa, 59, at the Stade Velodrome remains highly uncertain with neither the former Argentina boss nor the club taking a clear position on whether his one-year contract will be extended beyond this season.

With OM having slipped out of the top three in Ligue 1, and now likely to miss out on Champions League qualification, after a run of four straight league defeats, Bielsa's tenure is looking more fragile than ever.

Sanchez Flores, 50, has been out of a job since February when he ended a second spell at Getafe just over a month after rejoining the club where he first made his name in the dug-out.

The former Valencia and Atletico Madrid coach, who spent three years working in the United Arab Emirates after leaving the Spanish capital, acknowledged the OM job would attract him.

"It's an interesting job for any coach," said the man who took Atletico to the Europa League in 2009-10. "Marcelo Bielsa is currently doing good work. I can't say I'm a candidate while there is a coach in place, especially as I know him well.

"I have a very good feeling with Marseille. Actually, I know quite a few people at the club. I know the team and the players very well. It could be very interesting for me."
