Lukaku: Solskjaer advice turned Man United form around after dip under Mourinho

MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed how a one-to-one meeting with caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has helped rediscover his goal-scoring touch.

The Belgian has scored three goals in his last three games including the second in the 2-0 FA Cup third round win over Reading on Saturday.

It is the 25-year-old's best run in a United shirt since March after struggling for goals in the final months of Jose Mourinho's reign.

"He [Solskjaer] knows the type of striker that I am and I think from the first day when I came back in, he did a total analysis of my game and I was really surprised," Lukaku said.

"He helped me a lot and I am looking forward to keeping on working with him. I just want to work and help the team in every way that I can and right now everything is going well, not only for me but for the rest of the team as well and I am delighted."

Lukaku managed just six goals in 22 games under Mourinho this season but is now benefitting from a different style of football under Solskjaer.

His goal against Reading came after latching on to Alexis Sanchez's pass to round goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola.

"He really wants me to face the goal because he knows that when I'm facing goal that is when I am at my most dangerous," said Lukaku.

"I'm at my best moving off the shoulder of the defenders and stuff like that but also to try to stay on the move all the time and the work that we have been doing over the last couple of weeks is good.

"I just take it every day at a time and I want to improve my game."

There are few better strikers for Lukaku to learn from than Solskjaer, who scored 126 goals during 11 years as a player under Old Trafford including the dramatic winner in the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

"I know he was ice cold when he was in front of the goal and that is something I like," Lukaku said.

"He talks to me all the time, all the time and I like that.

"He plays in a way that I like to play, and also the rest of the team, and we are just enjoying our football right now but he wants us to win."
