Marcos Rojo skipping Manchester United tour to sort Old Trafford future

DETROIT -- Marcos Rojo is heading to Manchester rather than joining United's tour in the U.S. as he looks to sort out his future, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Manchester United defender has been on holiday in Mexico following the World Cup.

He is currently nursing a knock picked up playing for Argentina in Russia but instead of joining Jose Mourinho's squad in Los Angeles, he will return to his home in Wilmslow as doubts persist over his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Premier League new boys Wolves are the latest club to show an interest in Rojo.

His position at United is becoming increasingly uncertain as Jose Mourinho tries to bolster his defence before the deadline.

Sources have told ESPN FC that United hold an interest in Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld, but Leicester and Tottenham are proving tough negotiators.

The arrival of another centre-back would leave Mourinho with six meaning at least one would have to leave. However, Rojo, 28, signed a new deal in March that could keep him at the club until 2022.

But he has fallen down the pecking order and was not even included in the squad for the FA Cup final against Chelsea in May.

Meanwhile, Matty Willock, 21, has joined St Mirren in a season-long loan deal. The midfielder signed a two-year deal last summer and spent time at FC Utrecht and St Johnstone last season.
