Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial facing FA Cup fitness race

MANCHESTER, England -- Romelu Lukaku will return to Manchester United on Tuesday in a bid to prove his fitness ahead of the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

The Belgium international has been receiving treatment for an ankle injury at the Move to Cure clinic in Antwerp, missing the last three games including the team's 1-0 Premier League season-ending win over Watford at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Mourinho hinted last week Lukaku may only be fit enough for a place on the bench at Wembley next Saturday. The 25-year-old will return to the team's Carrington training facility on Tuesday before being assessed by United medical staff.

Mourinho also admitted Anthony Martial is a doubt to face Chelsea after he was ruled out of the win over Watford with a knee injury. The 22-year-old had been set to start but picked up an injury in training on Friday.

"He's injured. He was injured, he was injured in the Friday training session and Saturday couldn't train," Mourinho said. "He had treatment in the morning [on Sunday] at the training ground."

Sources told ESPN FC that Martial was at Old Trafford around three hours before the game against Watford but drove away from the stadium.

Mourinho also left David De Gea, Nemanja Matic and Chris Smalling from his squad to face Watford ahead of the final.
