Man United's Jose Mourinho concerned over WBA time wasting - sources

Jose Mourinho has warned his Manchester United players to be on alert for time-wasting tactics by West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Sunday, sources have told ESPN FC.

United face Alan Pardew's team aiming to avoid falling further behind runaway league leaders Manchester City, who could stretch their gap at the top to 14 points with a victory against Tottenham at the Etihad on Saturday evening.

But sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho is concerned about the so-called "game-slowing" tactics employed by West Brom during their 0-0 draw at Liverpool on Wednesday, with the United manager urging his players to try and ensure Pardew's team don't run down the clock as he believes they did at Anfield.

United's analysts have studied the footage of the Liverpool-West Brom game and sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho was left surprised by amount of time that was added on by the officials on Wednesday.

Two minutes were added on at the end of the first-half, with four minutes of stoppage in the second-half.

United's analysts have told Mourinho, however, that West Brom's tactics ate up six minutes of action in the first-half and 11 in the second, with goalkeeper Ben Foster, in particular, slowing down his distribution of the ball.
