Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rashford named on bench for Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has made six changes to his Manchester United side for the EFL Cup final against Southampton.

David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial all return after being left out of the 1-0 win at St Etienne in the Europa League on Thursday.

There is no place in the team for Wayne Rooney or Marcus Rashford, but Juan Mata starts after arriving back from Spain where he attended his grandfather's funeral.

Sergio Romero, Daley Blind, Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick join Rooney and Rashford on the United bench with no place for Matteo Darmian or Luke Shaw.

Southampton have named new signing Martin Caceres on the bench. The former Barcelona and Juventus joined on a free transfer on Feb. 16.

Manolo Gabbiadini, who joined the club in January, starts up front for Southampton after scoring three goals in his first two appearances, and Shane Long, who scored against Liverpool in the semifinal second leg, is on the bench.

Manchester United XI: David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Southampton XI: Fraser Forster, Cedric Soares, Maya Yoshida, Jack Stephens, Ryan Bertrand, Oriol Romeu, Steven Davis, James Ward-Prowse, Dusan Tadic, Nathan Redmond, Manolo Gabbiadini.
