Bastian Schweinsteiger makes first Manchester United start in over a year

Bastian Schweinsteiger is to make his first start for Manchester United since Jan. 9, 2016, after being named in the side to face Wigan in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

Schweinsteiger's last start for United came over a year ago in the 1-0 FA Cup third-round victory over Sheffield United.

The former Germany international, who has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho, has made just two appearances from the bench this season -- in the 4-1 EFL Cup defeat of West Ham and 4-0 FA Cup victory over Reading.

Schweinsteiger is one of nine players to come into the United team following the 2-1 EFL Cup semifinal second-leg defeat against Hull in midweek, with Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial also returning.

Shaw has not featured for United since the EFL Cup win over West Ham on Nov. 30, while Martial has been left out of the United squad for the last two games.

Smalling and Marcos Rojo are the only players to keep their places in the side after the Hull game.

Manchester United team: Romero, Fosu-Mensah, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw, Fellaini, Schweinsteiger, Mkhitaryan, Mata, Martial, Rooney
