Schweinsteiger makes first appearance for Man United under Mourinho

Bastian Schweinsteiger has finally made his return to the Manchester United first team, coming off the bench in the 86th minute of the 4-1 EFL Cup win over West Ham United.

Schweinsteiger, 32, had been frozen out of the United squad by Jose Mourinho after he took over from former boss Louis van Gaal in the summer.

The former Germany international, who has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer with Chicago Fire, was restored to first-team training recently and on Sunday was named on the bench for the first time -- though he was unused in the 1-1 Premier League draw with the Hammers.

Schweinsteiger's arrival in place of two-goal hero Anthony Martial for the final four minutes on Wednesday was met with a huge ovation.

And the ex-Bayern Munich star could have capped his cameo with a goal, but he sliced a long-range effort horribly wide.
