Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has received a one-match touchline ban after being sent to the stands in Sunday's Premier League match against West Ham, the Football Association has announced.
As Mourinho replied to the FA before the appeal deadline of Thursday, admitting the charge, it meant that the governing body could deal with the matter more urgently -- meaning that he serves the ban for Wednesday's EFL Cup game, which also happens to be against West Ham.
Mourinho's punishment came after he was sent to the stands following his angry reaction to Paul Pogba's yellow card during his side's 1-1 draw against the Hammers on Sunday.
The United boss kicked a water bottle after Pogba was booked for diving during the first half at Old Trafford, with referee Jonathan Moss dismissing the Portuguese for his reaction.
Mourinho has also been fined £16,000 by the FA for his actions.
A statement from the FA read: "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing [Wednesday], Jose Mourinho will serve a one-match touchline ban with immediate effect.

"The Manchester United manager admitted an FA charge that his behaviour in or around the 27th minute of the game against West Ham United on Sunday amounted to improper conduct. He was also fined £16,000."
Mourinho served a one-game touchline ban during a 3-1 Premier League victory at Swansea City earlier this month after admitting an FA charge of using "abusive and/or insulting words to an official" before referee Mark Clattenburg sent him to the stands during the Old Trafford draw against Burnley in October.

The Portuguese was also fined £50,000 and warned about his future conduct earlier this month for media comments made about referee Anthony Taylor -- the fourth official against West Ham at the weekend.
As Chelsea manager, Mourinho was dismissed twice in the 2013-14 season and once in 2014-15. He was also fined for his comments about referees three times, most notably £50,000 for saying referees were "afraid" to give Chelsea penalties.
Mourinho's disciplinary problems might be the least of his worries, with Manchester United in the midst of their worst start to a season in the Premier League era with 20 points from their opening 13 games.
