Man United toilet block smashed up by supporters during Man City game

Manchester United are having to carry out emergency repairs after a toilet block was smashed up during their 1-0 EFL Cup win over Manchester City on Wednesday, a club spokeswoman has confirmed to Manchester Evening News.

Footage emerged on social media after the game of a group of fans -- appearing to support City -- wrecking toilet facilities at Old Trafford.

The supporters can be heard chanting "City, City" as porcelain sinks are kicked off the wall and onto the ground, leaving a smashed up heap along with pipes on the floor.

A United spokeswoman confirmed to Manchester Evening News on Thursday that damage had been caused, with work being done to ensure all is repaired ahead of Saturday's home match with Burnley. She did not say if City will be asked to pay for the repairs.

As Wednesday's match was a cup game, City had more than 7,500 fans in attendance at Old Trafford -- two-and-a-half times more than the club's usual allocation for a Premier League clash.
