Timothy Fosu-Mensah agrees new Manchester United contract - sources

Manchester United full-back Timothy Fosu-Mensah has agreed a new four-year contract at Old Trafford, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

Talks over a new deal for Fosu-Mensah, 18, have been ongoing for several weeks -- with reports back in August claiming a deal had been struck.

However, sources close to United now say the contract is expected to be finalised after the international break.

The Netherlands youth international broke into the United first team last season under Louis van Gaal and quickly made an impression at Old Trafford.

Fosu-Mensah made 10 appearances for the Red Devils last season, and although he has made just two appearances in the EFL Cup and Europa League so far this term, he is highly-regarded by Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho opted not to send the teenager out on loan this season as he figures in his plans, with Fosu-Mensah currently playing back-up to first-choice right-back Antonio Valencia.

Fosu-Mensah's current deal is due to expire next summer, but United were always keen to reward him for his progress with lucrative new terms to secure his long-term future.
