Manchester United interested in Jesper Karlsson - Falkenberg director

Falkenberg midfielder Jesper Karlsson is attracting interest from Manchester United, according to the Swedish club's sporting director.

Karlsson, 18, has scored four goals and registered two assists so far this season for Falkenberg, who are cut adrift at the bottom of the Swedish Allsvenskan and were once coached by former United striker Henrik Larsson.

Falkenberg's sporting director Hakan Nilsson has claimed that United have been in touch about Karlsson, while Aftonbladet claims the Premier League club recently had the player scouted.

"They've expressed their interest. Them and several other big clubs," Nilsson told Aftonbladet.

"I'm not speculating about anything at this stage. First, there has to be some form of formal offer from some club, and that hasn't happened."

Discussing the interest, Karlsson said: "Of course it's nice. I absorb everything.

"I can't do anything other than just doing my best and going out there and performing. Then, if they're watching and think I'm good, that's just a plus."
