Manchester United defender Daley Blind is confident he can survive any squad changes at Old Trafford. The Dutchman's future has been the subject of speculation following the arrival of Jose Mourinho. The former Chelsea manager spoke about a preference for "specialists" at his first news conference, with Blind having been used in a variety of roles by Louis van Gaal. But with Chris Smalling out injured during preseason, Blind has been played both at centre-back and in midfield by Mourinho. He has started all three games under the new manager so far, playing 74 minutes in the 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic, 66 minutes in the 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund and 67 minutes in the 5-2 win over Galatasaray. "I'm confident with my own qualities so I have to show it over and over again," Blind said. "I think in preseason until now, I'm doing a great job and I'll keep working hard and we'll see how it ends." Discussing having been written off before the preseason games, the Netherlands international added: "People were making that mistake very quick. "But nothing was said and, just like all the other guys, I want to work very hard and get my spot in the team. "I think in football you never really have assurances, but I believe if you are confident and work hard then you will get chances. What I'm saying is not only for me but everyone in the squad. "I think every manager has his own ideas. This is a great manager with his own plans, and as a team we are learning a lot."
