Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Manchester United move like Mayweather vs. Pacquiao

Manchester United's new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic has compared his arrival at the club to the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao boxing match -- as people predicted it would not happen, but it did.

The former Sweden striker also said that he regrets not working with manager Jose Mourinho for longer at Inter Milan, but vowed that the pair "will win" at their new club.

Speaking in his first interview since singing for United on Friday, Ibrahimovic told MUTV: "I compare it with the Mayweather & Pacquiao fight. They said it would never happen but it happened.

"I want to say thanks to my team and Jose Mourinho because they made it possible. Now I'm at United and I'm super happy. My decision was the easiest part. The rest was a puzzle but the puzzle came together and we are happy, all of us."

Ibrahimovic played under Mourinho during the 2008-09 season when the pair helped Inter Milan to the title. The striker had a different experience the following year when he joined Barcelona and clashed with head coach Pep Guardiola, who is now in charge of Manchester City.

"The only regret I had with Jose was that I had a short time with him, only one season," Ibrahimovic said. "I got to know him as a person, not only as a coach. He's a winner, I'm a winner. We know both what we want: We want to win. Wherever we go, we win -- and we will win.

"There have been a lot of talks but now it's done. Now the hard work starts. I'm just waiting to get to know the guys. I'm here in the training facility and it looks a big club, a huge club, so I'm excited."

Speculation over the striker's departure from PSG and his future seemed to impact Sweden at Euro 2016, as they exited in the group stage. But Ibrahimovic admitted he was glad it is all over.

"I can focus on one thing, that's the United shirt, and leave everything behind me," he added. "I played in the Euros and there were more talks about my future than the Euros. Finally now, everything is over. Now I focus on my new club, hard work and doing as good as possible.

"To be representing Manchester United is the big thing, every game will be 'wow' for the world, especially with the new coaches, the new players and I think it will be a funny year in a good competition. It's a hard competition, but I'm not worried.

"I came to win. I don't come to waste time. I don't come to look at the weather."

United's young crop of talent includes the likes of forwards Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, who Ibrahimovic is hoping to help.

He said: "I have different experiences from different teams, different teammates. I learned from them. First of all, it's up to every player -- if you're working hard you will succeed -- and I will do my best to help everybody."
