Manchester United's Anthony Martial: 'It would be nice to play with Zlatan'

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has become the latest player at the club to express a desire to play alongside Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic, 34, is out of contract at the French club at the end of the season and had a successful spell at Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho -- who is widely expected to take over the Old Trafford job this summer -- in the 2008-09 season.

A fortnight ago, United midfielder Juan Mata spoke about how he would welcome playing alongside Ibrahimovic. A week later, the player's agent Mino Raiola claimed that all the leading Premier League clubs, apart from Manchester City, are interested in his client.

And, discussing Ibrahimovic, Martial told Telefoot: "It would be nice to play with him. He is an extraordinary player and he continues to prove it despite his age."

However, United's current manager Louis van Gaal has said that he wants a younger squad next season. Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra both left soon after Van Gaal was appointed and the Dutchman pointed out that he has offloaded players who were aged 33 or above since he took charge.

Martial, though, did back Van Gaal to continue. "I really like Louis van Gaal. He was always behind me," he added. "He made me come and made me play. This is the most important thing. We will have to strengthen during the transfer window, although we have a good team."
